Synopsis: This story is about the sweet romance between two college students, Lea and Gabe. They both have a crush on each other. However Gabe is incredibly shy and Lea is reserved. The story is told from 14 different viewpoints. Everyone from their English professor, to Lea’s roommate, to the barista at Starbucks and even a little squirrel. Everybody sees that they are destined to be together.
I really must be in the mood for this type of book. I did start it during Valentines Day and all. 🙂 Anyway, I have picked up this book before and read about 10 pages and put it back down. This time I devoured it in two sittings.
I loved all of the characters! It was fun to read from all of the different perspectives. Lea and Gabe were absolutely adorable. I was rooting for them the entire time. I liked seeing their relationship through others eyes. Surprisingly, I was able to develop a pretty good image of Lea and Gabe without ever seeing things from their perspective. I truly believe that if the story was told from their perspective, it would not have been as good. All of the characters were very relatable. I also enjoyed that the characters were so diverse.
My favorite POV: The squirrel! He was so adorable always looking for his acorns.
The plot was fast paced. The chapters were organized in months of the semester of Lea’s freshman year of college. All of the events were very believable and made me think about my time in college. They ate in the dining halls, went to class and hung out at the student center. I also liked all of the pop culture references and witty banter between the characters. Gabe was portrayed as a shy character that had some issues. Although I guessed what they were about half way through, I wanted to keep reading to see how the story unfolded.
The only problem I had was that sometimes the dialogue was difficult to follow. Sometimes if the characters were having a conversation it was difficult to figure out who was saying what. However, this did not take away from the story at all.
I really enjoyed this book! I would recommend this one to anyone who is looking for a quick, fun read with a unique spin.
