I bought a lot of books last year. I started watching Booktube and I also started my blog. With all of the recommendations, I went a little crazy with the book buying. Anytime I went to the bookstore (in person or online) or to Target, I would buy multiple books.
My unread books total began to grow very quickly. So this year, I decided to challenge myself to read five books before I can buy any more. I have only read two books since I made this promise. Right now, it is a challenge. I have not been to Barnes & Noble (one of my favorite places) in about a month. I do browse the book aisles at Target, but have been showing great signs of willpower and have not bought one book. I have quite a few books that I would like to add to my collection. I am gong to stick to my promise though!
Here are some of the books that I want to check out on my next visit to the bookstore. I just have to make sure that I don’t go too crazy when I finally get to buy some books.
The Book of Ivy by Amy Engel
I have heard so many great things about this book. It is a dystopian novel where there is a winning side and a losing side to some sort of war. The women of the losing side have to marry the men of the winning side. One girl is destined to marry the prince, but she has a plan to kill him. Sounds like a good one!
The Elite by Kiera Cass
More princes! This is the second novel in the Selection series. America has made it to the Elite six young ladies vying for the affection of Prince Maxon (not a spoiler it says it on the cover). The author wrote in a great twist at the end of the first book. I am excited to see what happens next.
Saga (Volume 2) by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples
I have only read one graphic novel before I began this series. I was not too fond of American Born Chinese and almost gave up on the genre. I am so glad I gave this series a chance. It is amazing! It focuses on two people from different sides of an intergalactic war. They are supposed to be enemies, but they fall in love and have a child. This saga follows their journey to freedom and safety for their family. Volume one was really good and I can’t wait to continue. FYI: These books are very graphic with adult content.
Stolen by Lucy Christopher
I don’t know much about this book. I do know that it is about a girl who was kidnapped and taken to a remote location. It is told from her perspective being held in captivity.
